Engine oil is a vital factor in maintaining the durability and performance of your car. But among countless options, many car owners - and even some garages - still do not really understand the difference between full synthetic oil and semi-synthetic oil.
Distinguishing the right type of oil, thereby giving appropriate advice to customers, is the way to help the garage build professional reputation and retain long-term customers.
Synthetic oil is an oil made from base oil molecules that have been refined, restructured and combined with a premium additive system. Thanks to the rigorous manufacturing process, synthetic oils have:
- Outstanding lubrication ability: Minimize friction between machine parts.
- High heat resistance: Stable operation under high temperature or heavy load conditions.
- Longer usage time: Extend oil change intervals, save maintenance costs.
- Effectively reduces dirt and oxidation: Protects the engine in even harsh environments.
Newer vehicles, vehicles using advanced engine technology such as Turbo, GDI, Hybrid, or vehicles operating in harsh conditions (high temperatures, frequent long trips, service vehicles...).
Semi-synthetic oil is a combination of mineral oil and synthetic oil, with additives added to improve performance. Although not as high as synthetic oils, this oil still meets normal operating needs:
- Reasonable price: Cost savings for general customers.
- Stable performance: Suitable for daily use, traveling in the city.
- Shorter oil change intervals: Need to replace more frequently to ensure best engine protection.
Popular cars, cars that have been used for many years, or customers with limited budgets.
Choosing the right type of oil not only helps protect the engine but also shows performance professional and dedicated of the garage.
- Vehicle type and engine technology: New cars or cars using Turbo should use synthetic oil.
- Vehicle condition: Old vehicles with weak engines may be suitable for semi-synthetic.
- Frequency of vehicle use: Vehicles traveling a lot and long distances need synthetic oil to ensure stability.
